Producing my first play: We keep trucking!

Standard

Every production has it’s trials. But as it’s said “The show must go on”.

I recast, and cut a part. It’s a great change. The original script had 4 characters, Leanne, Mercy, a mother and her daughter. I cut the mother. It added focus. Our plays must be 10 minutes, so the cut allows the story to breathe. The mother’s function was to get Leanne to step outside, but now the daughter, bosses her out of the room. It’s a funny moment.

I am blown away by how actors add life to words. My cast is so animated, creative and constantly making strong dynamic choices. Wow. They rock.

Next week we will have our final rehearsals, and our performance is next weekend. We will be shown at “John Chatterton’s Short Play Lab”
